Description |
Nederlands: Op een rommelmarkt werd een foto van koning Albert I gekocht. De verkoper wist niet dat dit een beeltenis van Koning Albert I was. Er wordt veel belang gehecht aan deze foto omdat vermoed wordt dat dit een originele foto is, die mogelijk in Engeland werd opgenomen.
Het originele aspect wordt ondersteund door de handtekening van de fotograaf op de passe partout (Engelsman Richard N. Spraight, gefotografeerd in Engeland). De grootvader (langs vaderskant) van de geïnterviewde is Jozef Petré. Jozef is na de val van Antwerpen naar Engeland gevlucht in 1914 samen met zijn vrouw en hun eerste zoon Emile Petré die toen 3 jaar oud was. Zij hebben in Engeland gewerkt in de oorlogsindustrie. Zij woonden daar met andere Belgen in kampen. Albert Petré (vader van Armand Petré) werd in Engeland geboren in 1915 in Baildon (N-Engeland) als tweede zoon in het gezin. De familie is teruggekeerd naar België tijdens het begin van de jaren twintig. Zij zijn op de Elsdonck te Wilrijk gaan wonen. Een insigne van het wijkcomité van Elsdonck is bij de meegebrachte items terug te vinden. Naast het verhaal van grootvader brengt Armand Petré een groot rood fotoboek mee uit 1933-1934. Soldaten konden het Gulden boek der Vuurkaart aanschaffen tegen 285 frank. Grootvader Paulus langs moederskant is oorloginvalide met een houten been. Nochtans komt hij niet voor in dit boek, alhoewel hij minstens 9 maanden aan het front heeft gestreden. Het Gulden boek der Vuurkaart draagt op de eerste pagina een foto en de naam van Francois Meulemans. Interessant is dat samen met dit Gulden Boek ook andere oorlogsdocumenten van deze persoon mee verzameld zijn nl. Carte de Pécule op naam van Francois Meulemans, Livret de Mobilisation van Francois Meulemans, Carnet de notes de sous-officier Meulemans (Francois, Louis, Charles)engagé en 1915. |
