English: The Vaughan Porch [1] of Leicester Cathedral by George Frederick Bodley (1897). Nikolaus Pevsner described the porch as 'ornate yet dignified' in his Buildings of England (Leicestershire and Rutland volume). The seven central statues are (left to right) of St Cuthlas, St Hugh of Lincoln, Robert Grosseteste, John Wycliffe, Henry Hastings, William Chillingworth and William Connor Magee. The two statues at the side are of St George (left) and St Martin of Tours (right). |
