Mahabubnagar, formerly known as Rukmammapeta and Palamooru[3] is a city[4][dead link] in Mahabubnagar District of the Indian state of Telangana named after the 6th Nizam, Mahboob Ali Khan. It is the headquarters of Mahabubnagar mandal in Mahabubnagar revenue division.[5] The city is also the largest in the district with an area of 39.64 km2 (15.31 sq mi) and 7th most populous in the state.[6]
