The Queen's Guards was made after Michael Powell had shot Peeping Tom, but before it was released. When Peeping Tom was released, there was such an outcry[2] that Powell never directed another feature film in Britain.
Powell later called the film "the most inept piece of filmmaking that I have ever produced or directed. I didn't write the story (weak) or the screenplay (abysmal) but I take all the flak."[3]
