Volpone (Italian: sly fox) is a comedy by the early modern English playwright Ben Jonson. First performed in 1606 by the King's Men company at the Globe Theatre in London, the play is a merciless satire of greed and lust, which draws on elements of city comedy and beast fable.[1] It remains Jonson's most-performed play and is ranked among the finest of Jacobean comedies.
