Willie Wilbert Herenton (born April 23, 1940) is an American politician from Memphis, Tennessee. He was elected as the first elected African-American Mayor of Memphis, Tennessee.[1] He was elected to five consecutive terms and abruptly quit the position mid-way through his fifth term in 2009.[2]
