Le Cap-Vert, officiellement la République du Cap-Vert, est un pays insulaire de l'océan Atlantique au large de l'Afrique. Colonie portugaise à partir de 1456 (arrivée des premiers colons sur l'archipel alors inhabité), le pays accéda à l'indépendance en 1975. Il tire son nom du cap Vert.

Cesária Évora, née le 27 août 1941 à Mindelo sur São Vicente au Cap-Vert, est une chanteuse capverdienne. Elle est surnommée La Diva aux pieds nus, surnom dû à son habitude de se produire pieds nus, en soutien aux sans-abri, femmes et enfants pauvres de son pays.
Voix rauque et chaloupée, elle a popularisé la Morna, la musique du Cap-Vert, auprès du grand public mondial.

Son dernier album, intitulé Nha Sentimento, est sorti le .
