בעלי חיים פעילי דמדומים הם בעלי חיים הפעילים רק בשעות הדמדומים שאחרי השקיעה ולפני הזריחה, אך ישנים במהלך רוב שעות היום ושעות הלילה. חלקם גם פעילים בלילות של ירח מלא או של יום מעונן. המונח אינו כוללני, וחלק מבעלי החיים פעילים רק לפני השקיעה, בעוד אחרים פעילים רק לפני הזריחה.
ישנם מספר בעלי חיים הפעילות בשעות אלה. חלקם מתגוננים מטמפרטורה קיצונית וחמה מדי ביום או קרה או חשוכה מדי בלילה. מינים אחרים פעילים אז כתוצאה מתחרות עם בעלי חיים אחרים ומינים אחרים פעילים בשעות אלה (בעיקר בשעות הבוקר המוקדמות) כחלק מהתגוננות מטורפים. חלק מהטורפים פעילים ביום ואחרים פעילים בלילה ומינים נטרפים רבים פעילים בשעות שבהם הטורפים פחות פעילים (כך עושים רבים מהמכרסמים). עם זאת טורפים מסוימים החלו להיות פעילים בשעות הדמדומים בהם טרפם מתחיל בפעילות.
