Charles William Brackett (Saratoga Springs, 26 november 1892 – Beverly Hills, 9 maart 1969) was een Amerikaans scenarioschrijver.
Levensloop
Charles Brackett begon zijn schrijverscarrière als toneelrecensent. Vanaf 1925 loste hij Herman Mankiewicz af als recensent bij het tijdschrift The New Yorker, die zich net zoals hij in 1929 in Hollywood vestigde als scenarioschrijver. Brackett is vooral bekend vanwege zijn samenwerking met de regisseur Billy Wilder. Ze maakten vanaf de jaren 30 samen dertien films. Brackett werd in totaal acht keer genomineerd voor een Oscar. Hij won de trofee ook daadwerkelijk voor The Lost Weekend (1946), Sunset Boulevard (1951) en Titanic (1954). In 1958 ontving hij bovendien een ere-Oscar.
