De Football League Cup 1996/97, om sponsorredenen ook bekend als de Coca-Cola Cup, was de 37ste editie van de strijd om deze Engelse voetbalbeker. Het toernooi begon op 20 augustus 1996 en eindigde op woensdag 16 april 1997 met de tweede finalewedstrijd in stadion Hillsborough. In totaal deden 92 clubteams mee aan het toernooi.
