De 21ste editie van de UEFA Cup werd door Ajax Amsterdam gewonnen in de finale tegen het Italiaanse Torino Calcio. Ajax speelde de eerste drie thuiswedstrijden in het Rheinstadion in Düsseldorf vanwege een straf van de UEFA.
