Lunglei (IPA: [/ˈlooŋgˌleɪ/]), formerly known as Lungleh, is the second-largest town in Mizoram, northeastern India, situated in the south-central part of the state. The town served as the capital of British Mizoram from 1889 to 1898.[2] It is situated 729 metres (2,392 feet) above sea level and is situated on a ridge surrounded by hills. Lunglei has an estimated population of 80,000 residents as of 2023.[3]
