Q1: Isn't her "date of death" July 13, 2020?
A1: Well, legally and officially, yes. We also acknowledge the sentimental connection to Cory Monteith's date of death. But while the infobox parameter does say "date of death", it should be filled by (and displays) the day a person died. According to many sources, Rivera's death certificate – while saying July 13, 2020 – acknowledges she died on July 8, 2020. So, biologically, no. Furthermore, the Television Academy and British Academy give the date as July 8, 2020. Q2: Why does the article mention her funeral/resting place if it was private?
A2: Because Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and intends to respectfully document such details. Though the funeral was not reported on for several days, it did receive widespread media coverage by the end of July 2020 and so there are no WP:BLPPRIVACY concerns about including the information. |
