I have concerns about the quality of the article Leeds. There are two overlapping concepts of Leeds: the core urban area (the settlement) and the metropolitan borough (the district). These concepts are handled in two articles, the one at Leeds is about the settlement and the district is at City of Leeds.
This essay is in development. It contains the advice or opinions of one or more Wikipedia contributors. Essays may represent widespread norms or minority viewpoints. Consider these views with discretion, especially since this page is still under construction. |
That these two concepts are somewhat separate is best shown by looking at places in the district, but outside the settlement. For example a typical visitor attraction will give directions "from Leeds". However, to write about the settlement as a distinct entity we need to establish if the source is talking about the settlement or the district. This potentially difficult as both entities are normally called "Leeds", and working out what is being talked about may be difficult without having to carry out original research.
I will produce three sections here, based on this version of the article:
- An analysis of the sources used, and if its clear what meaning of Leeds is referred to.
- An annotated version of the article, showing how severely the article is affected
- A summary of these findings
Three highlighting colours will be used throughout:
Green | Clearly about the settlement, in article text and source |
---|---|
Yellow | Unclear whether article text or source is about settlement |
Red | Either article text or source clearly describing district |
