SRY-kutija 2 (spolno determinirajuća regija 2 Y) znana i kao SOX2, je transkripcijski faktor neophodan za održavanje samoobnavljanja ili pluripotencije, nediferenciranih embrionskih matičnih ćelija. To je protein koji je kod ljudi kodiran genom SOX2 sa hromosoma 3.
Sox2 ima ključnu ulogu u održavanju embrionskih i nerv nih matičnih ćelija.[5]

Sox2 je član Sox porodice transkripcijskih faktora, za koje se pokazalo da imaju ključne uloge u mnogim fazama sisarskog razvoja. Ovaj protein porodica dijeli visoko konzervirane DNK vezujuće domene poznate kao HMG kutija (eng. skr. od High-mobility group = visoko pokretna grupa) domena koje sadrže po približno 80 aminokiselina.[5]
Sox2 uveliko obećava u istraživanju koje uključuje indukovanu pluripotenciju, novo i vrlo obećavajuće polje regenerativne medicine.[6]
