Cicâldău started his career as a senior at Viitorul Constanța, and in the summer of 2018 transferred to Universitatea Craiova. He totalled over 100 games in the league championship and won two domestic trophies with the latter, before moving abroad to Galatasaray in 2021.
Internationally, Cicâldau registered his full debut for Romania in a 2–1 friendly defeat of Israel in March 2018. The following year, he started in all games for the under-21 side as they reached the semi-finals of the UEFA European Championship.
