The top of the huanca is carved in such a way, that on June 21st ('winter' solstice), the shadows formed when the sun directly hits the stone, are in the shape of a puma, condor and snake, which were sacred animals to the Cañaris
Français : Ingapirca, Ecuador, ruines de la civilisation des Cañaris: pierre astronomique (à gauche), tombe (à droite) et maison reconstruite. Le sommet de la pierre est sculpté de la manière à ce que le 21 juin, au solstice d'"hiver", l'ombre formée prend la forme d'un puma, d'un condor et d'un serpent, qui sont les animaux sacrés des Cañaris. |
