Hanks was a forward for the University of Notre Dame women's soccer team from 2005 to 2008, and is one of the most highly decorated players in the history of women's college soccer.[2] She was the fourth player in women's college soccer to win the Hermann Trophy twice, joining Mia Hamm, Cindy Parlow, and Christine Sinclair in sharing that honor.[3] Since then, Morgan Brian, Catarina Macario, and Jaelin Howell also won the Hermann Trophy twice.
