Ritek Corporation was established in 1988 with the goal of manufacturing CDs in Taiwan.[6] In 1990 the company produced the first CD in Taiwan.[7] In November 2005, the company had a market share of 20 percent in rewritable DVDs and CD-RWs and was the biggest disc-manufacturer worldwide.[8] As of 2020[update], Ritek has 5,900 employees.[2]
