Tonekabon (Persian: تنكابن), also Romanized as Tonekābon; formerly known as Shahsavar (شَهسَوار), also Romanized as Shahsavār and Shahsawār,[3] is a city in the Central District of Tonekabon County, Mazandaran province, Iran, serving as capital of both the county and the district.[4] The languages of Tonekabon are Mazandarani[5][6] and Gilaki.[7][8]
