Yogyakarta has one of the highest HDI (Human Development Index) in Indonesia.[11] To rapidly jumpstart the economy, plan for 2nd phase Indonesia high speed train via Southbound is currently being developed from Bandung to Solo, via Yogyakarta initiating construction by 2023, which projected to be completed by 2026.[12]
