Pushkin (Roushie: Пу́шкин) is a municipal toun in Pushkinsky Destrict o the federal ceety o St. Petersburg, Roushie, locatit 24 kilometer (15 mi) sooth frae the centre o St. Petersburg proper,[5] an its train station, Detskoye Selo, is directly connectit bi railwey tae the Vitebsky Rail Terminal o the ceety. Pushkin wis foondit in 1710 as an imperial residence namit Tsarskoye Selo an receivit status o a toun in 1808. The first public railways in Roushie, Tsarskoye Selo Railways, wur opened here in 1837 an connectit the toun tae the caipital St. Petersburg. Efter the Roushie Revolution, the toun wis renamit tae Detskoye Selo (meanin Childer's Veelage). Its name wis further chyngit in 1937 tae Pushkin tae commemorate the 100t anniversary o the daith o the Roushie poet Alexander Pushkin. The toun contains an ensemble o the 18t century "Tsarskoye Selo". This museum complex includes the Catherine Palace, Alexander Pailace an ither biggins an associatit pairks; it is a major tourist attraction o the aurie an is includit in the leet o monuments protectit bi the UNESCO.[6]
