species of beetle / From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The seven-spot ladybird (Coccinella septempunctata) is a colourful beetle. It has red back (wing cases) with seven black spots, black and white head, legs and stomach. As an adult it is 5-8 mm long.[1]
Coccinella septempunctata is the most common lady beetle in Europe. Because it eats harmful insects, people have imported it to North America.[2]
Ladybirds are members of the family Coccinellidae, which is in the infraorder Cucujiformia.
